Welcome to Beginner Acro at Home Series # 4

We are so happy you have decided to be courageous and try something new!

How to use the video: It would be best to follow the video progression so that when you get to the flow at the end of the series you will have done those base poses first. Pause, rewind or repeat the videos in order to study foot and hand placements, this can be a very useful tool.

Safety First: It is important to know that basic verbiage of Base- Flyer- Spot

The Base is the person normally on the ground that is supporting with feet or hands the other person.

The Flyer is the person normally in the air being supported by the Base

The Spot is the person keeping the Base and Flyer safe and helping to prevent injury or falls, the Spot is just as important as the Base and Flyer and highly recommended that you use a Spot when learning. We did not video or show the Spotters jobs in these videos but hands on and active spots that are engaged in the movement to prevent or be able to respond quickly is the goal. (Vero Beach Acro, LLC and Darryl & Rebecca Lind are released from any and all injury upon purchase of any series-Please read Wavier and Release at the bottom of the page before continuing.)

Also it is advised and recommended to listen to your partner and use the word "down" if at any point there is discomfort or fear, by using the language to communicate it will help to build into a safer and more trusting practice. Do not feel pressure to go into a pose that your not comfortable. Have patience, Be kind and remember it is all in good fun.

Gratitude Practice: Before starting your practice it is not needed but would be advised to set an intention and or state something within the last day that your grateful for. This is a practice that we share at Vero Beach Acro and it creates a space of community and understanding. We are grateful to you for trusting us to teach you and for giving this fun practice a try!

Sharing and Questions: We love growing the community with pictures and shares from all over the world, so please if you feel brave then send us a video or picture of you giving Acro Yoga a try! Also, if you have any questions about a pose, flow, placement or anything acro then please send us a message on one of the social media platforms or direct through the website. We will be sure to get back to you!

Thank you! Have Fun

Introduction from Darryl & Rebecca Lind

Learn Four Step- Forward & Backwards

Base Key Points

If your not able to completely straighten your legs, then make sure the ankles and hips are in line. Keep your hands and arms straight up for the support of the flyer. Work on flexing and dropping your toes to find the sweet spot of being comfortable in the pose. Try to keep the back planted on the ground and if you feel yourself lifting then shift the flyer back over your hips.

Flyer Key Points

Communicate with the base if you need more or less pressure from the toes. You will feel this pose in your back and glutes, keep the legs, and chest lifted and engaged. Don't noodle. Take breaks frequently to build strength.

Spotter Key Points

Start by standing beside the hips of the base right beside the flyer, hands on the hip points of the flyer as they go up and down. Once comfortable and if the flyer wants to remove the hands you could move your spotting to the chest and collar bone of the flyer by putting your arm through the space between the base and flyer and preventing the flyer from tipping forward.

 Learn the Flow

Base Key Points

Learning to move can be very challenging for the base. You are taking the majority of the weight and muscle strength, this will show up for you once removing stability points. Start slow and communicate quickly if you feel like your are having trouble. Do not be afraid to ask for a heavy spot while learning.

Flyer Key Points

Shifting weight in the flow can be challenging, so staying engaged will help with the movement. Be aware of what your comforable with and communicate clearly when you need something to be adjusted. You are taking the biggest risk by being the flyer so your comfort and safety is paramount. Stay aware and try new things but also stay safe.

Spotter Key Points

This is a moving sequence and can be challenging to spot. Remember the spots in all previous poses and if you need to ask the base and flyer to slow down so that you can keep up then please do so. You are just as much a part of the flow as the base and flyer. Thank you Spotters!

Congratulations !
